NovelSense is the winner of the 2019 Digital Health Challenge and Hackathon in Nuremberg. The event organized by Zollhof, Health Hackers Erlangen and the Medical Valley was set up to solve real industry challenges in the field of healthcare.
The challenges which were provided by Siemens Healthineers, Novartis and Nürnberger Versicherung included a broad array of hard problems like “Reducing the complexity in hospitals”, “Developing smart wearables” or “Improving the hospital discharge process”.
During the three days of the hackathon event, the NovelSense team built a working prototype of a RTLS based tracking system. The prototype used active UWB tags (provided by ZigPos) to track objects and people in a hospital setting. The underlying technology could be used to analyze and improve processes and workflows connected with hospital care. A pilot project with Siemens Healthineers is planned.
