Critical mass is a worldwide movement that aims to create awareness for bicycles as a future oriented mode of transport. Events include large amounts of bicyclists sharing the streets. In september NovelSense used its ABAKUS technology alongside the Critical Mass event in Schwäbisch Gmünd to count over 400 participants.
ABAKUS is a camera based traffic counting technology which was optimized to work with minimal energy supply. This means the technology can be opperated off-grid for multiple days, delivering great classification results and enabling the counting of multiple traffic participants.
The prototype shows the capabilities of NovelSense in the area of embedded AI development. In the future, NovelSense is looking to further develop the system and to work on more applications utilizing low-power AI boards to enable high-performance applications on the edge.
